ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering. An Initial coin offering as understood by the name is used by the startups to bypass the regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists. In simple words, ICO is the beginning of a new cryptocurrency. The second largest cryptocurrency “Ethereum” has also begun from here. In other words ,this is same as IPO (Initial Public Offering) for stock market listings.
